2024 Giants Live World Tour Open: Clash of Strongest Men in Birmingham

The 2024 Giants Live World Tour Open: A Showdown of the World’s Strongest Men

On September 7, 2024, the world’s elite strongmen will converge in Birmingham, England, for the highly anticipated 2024 Giants Live World Tour Open. Twelve athletes from five countries will compete in five grueling events, including the World Log Lift Challenge (WLLC), where the current world record holder, Cheick “Iron Biby” Sanou, is expected to attempt a new world record.

The other events will test the athletes’ versatility, with challenges such as the Sandbag Toss, Deadlift, Arm-Over-Arm Pull, and Power Stairs. Promoter Colin Bryce has shared impressive footage of Iron Biby’s preparation, showcasing the strongman’s prowess with a 210-kilogram (463-pound) overhead press for four reps.

Among the contenders, the 2023 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion, Mitchell Hooper (CAN), enters the competition with momentum, having recently won the 2024 Strongest Man on Earth contest in Loveland, CO. Maxime Boudreault (CAN) could also be a strong performer, given his recent victory at the 2024 North America’s Strongest Man contest and the suitability of the Birmingham events to his strengths.

Wildcards to watch out for include Luke Richardson (UK), who is making a comeback after recovering from a long-term biceps injury, and Oleksii Novikov (UKR), who has had a string of lackluster outings due to nagging injuries. Evan Singleton (USA) is known for his prowess in single-day competitions on the Giants Live circuit and could pull off another strong performance if he can establish an early lead.

The lineup of athletes is truly impressive, with names like Aivars Šmaukstelis (LAT), Kevin Faires (USA), Ondřej Fojtů (CZE), Nathan Goltry (USA), Thomas Evans (USA), and Gavin Bilton (UK) also set to compete. Fans of strongman events are in for an exhilarating display of raw power and determination at the 2024 Giants Live World Tour Open.
