World’s Strongest Man 2024: Intense Stone-Off Decides Final Lineup
Myrtle Beach, SC – The quest to crown the 2024 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) continues as athletes competed in the sixth and final Qualifying stage event: the Stone-Off. This high-stakes showdown determined the final spots in the prestigious WSM Final, set to take place on May 4-5, 2024.
The leaders of the Qualifying groups – Tristan Hoath, Mitchell Hooper, Matthew Ragg, Evan Singleton, and Tom Stoltman – had already secured their positions in the Final. However, the battle was on for the remaining spots, as the fourth-, fifth-, and sixth-place athletes in each group were eliminated.
The Stone-Off saw second- and third-place finishers in each group compete head-to-head, lifting a series of stones weighing 140 to 200 kilograms (308 to 440 pounds) over a crossbar. The drama unfolded as Luke Stoltman, brother of Tom Stoltman, faced off against Eddie Williams, with Luke ultimately emerging victorious and advancing to his fifth WSM Final.
“Another notable moment saw Austin Andrade make history as the first Mexican strongman to ever reach the WSM Final in the contest’s 47-year history, defeating Ondrej Fojtu in their Stone-Off matchup.”
The final lineup for the 2024 WSM Final is now set, with the 10 athletes who will compete for the prestigious title:
