Strongman Showdown in Saint-Pamphile: Gabriel Rhéaume Crowned Canada’s Strongest Man 2024
On August 25, 2024, the annual Canada’s Strongest Man (CSM) contest took place in Saint-Pamphile, Canada. Thirteen of the country’s top strongmen competed across six grueling events, showcasing their raw power and endurance.
In a dominant performance, Gabriel Rhéaume emerged victorious, accumulating an impressive 67.5 points out of a possible 78. He was followed by silver medalist James Jeffers (58 points) and bronze medalist Wesley Derwinsky (57 points).
The reigning 2023 CSM champion, Simon Pratte, finished a disappointing 12th place. Other notable finishers included Colten Sloan in 4th (56 points), Tyler Sigurdson in 5th (43 points), and Frédérick Rhéaume in 6th (41 points).
Throughout the competition, the strongmen pushed the limits of human strength across six events: Max Deadlift, Truck Pull, Super Yoke, Overhead Medley, Sandbag Steeplechase, and Atlas Stones.
Max Deadlift
In the Max Deadlift, Frédérick Rhéaume led the way with a lift of 420 kilograms, followed by James Jeffers (408 kg) and a tie for third between Yanick Boucher and Ben Court (395 kg).
Truck Pull
During the Truck Pull, Gabriel Rhéaume recorded the fastest time of 19.13 seconds, while Simon Pratte pulled the vehicle 16.66 meters.
Super Yoke
The Super Yoke event saw Gabriel Rhéaume dominate with a blistering time of 15.08 seconds, while Frédérick Rhéaume, Simon Pratte, and Joey Lavallée struggled with the 454-kilogram yoke.
Overhead Medley
In the Overhead Medley, Gabriel Rhéaume showcased his all-around strength by completing three lifts in 28.98 seconds, the best performance of the day.
Sandbag Steeplechase
The Sandbag Steeplechase event proved grueling, with Wesley Derwinsky posting the fastest time of 42.66 seconds.
Atlas Stones
The competition concluded with the Atlas Stones, where James Jeffers loaded five stones in 56.57 seconds, the quickest time of the event.
