Mitchell Hooper Secures Second Consecutive Rogue Invitational Title
Mitchell Hooper, the reigning two-time champion of the prestigious Rogue Invitational, once again demonstrated his strongman dominance in Aberdeen, Scotland. Hooper’s consistent and well-rounded performance across the six-event competition earned him the grand prize of $121,938.92 and cemented his status as one of the sport’s rising stars.
Hooper’s remarkable showing included a victory, four runner-up finishes, and a bronze medal, amassing an impressive 54 points out of a possible 60. The 2018 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) champion, Hafthor Björnsson, and the reigning three-time WSM titleholder, Tom Stoltman, rounded out the podium with 44 points each, with Björnsson securing the runner-up position by virtue of his two event wins compared to Stoltman’s one.
“Hooper’s strongman prowess shone through in the opening max deadlift event, where he claimed the second-place finish behind the legendary Björnsson.”
In the subsequent events, Hooper consistently outperformed his rivals, including a decisive second-place finish in the second event that allowed him to take the lead on the leaderboard – a position he would not relinquish for the remainder of the competition.
Despite Stoltman’s dominance in the “King of the Stones” event, Hooper and Björnsson leveraged their standing as the event leaders to secure the top two positions. Stoltman, however, refused to be silenced on his home turf and claimed victory in the fourth event.
Hooper’s lone event win came in the Yoke Escalator, further solidifying his reputation as the “Monarch of the Yoke.” Heading into the final event, Hooper’s commanding lead ensured that only a catastrophic misstep could dethrone him – a fate that did not come to pass, as he was one of only two athletes to successfully lift all four overhead implements, alongside event winner Luke Stoltman.
Mitchell Hooper’s outstanding performance at the 2024 Rogue Invitational has undoubtedly cemented his status as one of the sport’s premier strongman athletes, further strengthening his claim to the title of “World’s Strongest Man” in the years to come.
