World’s Strongest Man 2024 Plagued by Another Injury
In the latest chapter of the 2024 World’s Strongest Man (WSM) contest, another athlete has fallen victim to injury. This time, it occurred during the opening event on Day One of the competition.
Bobby Thompson, one of the favorites to advance through his Qualifying Stage, suffered what appeared to be a foot injury while competing in the Webster Stones event. Thompson was seen limping off the contest platform after his attempt. When the Deadlift Ladder event commenced, Thompson was observed wearing a foot support, shortly before confirming his withdrawal from the 2024 WSM.
The specifics of Thompson’s injury have not yet been made public. His 2024 WSM journey was cut short, as he finished last in his group during the Webster Stones, covering a distance of 20 meters with the unevenly weighted stones before his untimely exit.
Thompson’s withdrawal occurred before he could even attempt the Deadlift Ladder. The remaining competitors in Group Five are Wesley Derwinsky, Tom Stoltman, Jaco Schoonwinkel, Nathan Goltry, and Adam Roszkowski.
“At the time of this article’s publication, Thompson has not shared any information regarding his withdrawal on his social media or elsewhere.”
BarBend, the source of this news, will provide updates as more details regarding Thompson’s injury become available.
