Strongman Champions League (SCL) World Record Breakers Contest Crowns Aivars Šmaukstelis as the Champion
On June 29-30, the 2024 Strongman Champions League (SCL) World Record Breakers contest took place in Finland, where twelve of the globe’s elite strongmen competed in seven grueling events. Aivars Šmaukstelis of Latvia emerged as the overall champion, amassing an impressive 72 points out of a possible 84.
The Challenging Events
The competition featured a range of challenges, including:
- Truck Pull
- Front Hold
- Frame Carry
- Tractor Pull
- Shield Carry
- Sandbag Toss
- Loading Race
Šmaukstelis showcased his dominance, winning two of the seven events and finishing outside the top three only once, with an eighth-place result in the Frame Carry.
The Final Standings
The final standings saw Šmaukstelis claiming the top spot, followed by Mika Törrö of Finland in second with 64 points, and Evans Nana Aryee of Ghana in third with 59 points. Other notable performances came from Jesse Pynnönen (FIN, 57 points), Brian Kichton (USA, 52 points), and Jakub Szczechowski (POL, 47 points).
