Strongman Champions League (SCL) World Finals Showcase Rayno Nel’s Triumph in Alanya, Turkey
Alanya, Turkey, November 8-9, 2024 – The 2024 Strongman Champions League (SCL) World Finals took place in Alanya, Turkey, with 12 top athletes from around the globe competing in a thrilling two-day contest. Rayno Nel of South Africa emerged victorious, scoring an impressive 69 out of a possible 72 points.
The six grueling events included Block Press, Stone Carry, Steintossen, Truck Pull, Car Deadlift, and Natural Stones. Nel showcased his exceptional strength and endurance, outperforming his rivals to claim the world title. Ghana’s Evans Nana Aryee and Latvia’s Aivars Šmaukstelis rounded out the podium, finishing second and third, respectively.
The final standings saw Nel take the gold with 69 points, followed by Aryee with 65 points and Šmaukstelis with 64 points. Other notable performances came from Kane Francis of the UK in fourth place and Adam Roszkowski of Poland in fifth.

The Block Press event tested the athletes’ explosive power, with Kane Francis emerging victorious by completing four lifts in 26.64 seconds. In the Stone Carry, Rayno Nel dominated, covering an impressive 60 meters with the 180-kilogram stone. The Steintossen saw Nel excel again, launching the 75-kilogram implement a distance of 3.2 meters.
The Truck Pull, Car Deadlift, and Natural Stones events further showcased the competitors’ raw strength and technical prowess. Evans Nana Aryee shone in the Car Deadlift, completing 10 reps with the 375-kilogram car, while Rayno Nel’s lightning-fast 17.19-second time in the Natural Stones was a highlight of the competition.
