Giants Live World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour Kicks Off with Britain’s Strongest Man
The 2024 Giants Live World’s Strongest Man Arena Tour is set to begin next weekend, with the first stop at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield for the annual Britain’s Strongest Man competition. This year’s tour promises to be the best yet, with seven confirmed dates, a new Stateside event in Las Vegas, and two additional venues added to the lineup.
After the British champion is crowned, the tour will move to Leeds for the Europe’s Strongest Man contest, followed by a new venue in York hosting the Britain’s Strongest Woman and England’s Strongest Man events. The iconic Strongman Classic returns to the Royal Albert Hall in London, while The Strongman Open shifts to Birmingham’s Utilita Arena, where the Log Lift Challenge 2024 will be decided.
The action then heads to the USA, as Las Vegas plays host to the Strongman Championships and World Deadlift Championships. Fans will be eager to see if a change of scenery can help produce the long-awaited 505kg deadlift world record. The tour wraps up in Glasgow with the World Tour Finals, a competition that has become known as the “World’s Strongest Man in a day.”
Rivalry at the Top
The battle for the Britain’s Strongest Man title is set to be a classic showdown in Sheffield. Defending champion Adam Bishop and two-time World’s Strongest Man winner Tom Stoltman have dominated the domestic scene in recent years, with the pair sharing the last four titles between them.
Bishop’s victory in 2023 marked his return to full fitness after a triceps injury, while Stoltman missed the event but is now poised to reclaim the crown. The two have traded the title since 2019, with their intense rivalry pushing each other to new heights.
Stoltman’s sheer power and all-around ability make him the favorite, but Bishop will be hoping to strike early in the Deadlift for Reps and build a points cushion before the iconic Atlas Stones finale, where Stoltman reigns supreme.
Contenders Emerge
While the Stoltman brothers and Bishop are the clear frontrunners, several other strongmen are primed to challenge for the podium. Luke Stoltman, a five-time Scotland’s Strongest Man and 2021 Europe’s Strongest Man winner, will be hungry for his first British title. Welshman Gavin Bilton, a four-time World’s Strongest Man competitor, is another serious contender after finishing runner-up in 2022.
Shane Flowers, Paul Smith, and the evergreen Mark Felix will all be looking to upset the favorites, while rising talents like Kane Francis and Paddy Haynes aim to make their mark on the national stage. The international contingent is led by Scotland’s Conor Curran and Ireland’s Pa O’Dwyer and Sean Gillen, ensuring a truly competitive field.
With a mix of proven champions and hungry challengers, the 2024 Britain’s Strongest Man contest promises to be a classic showcase of strength, determination, and the ongoing evolution of the sport.
