Defending Champion Mitchell Hooper Narrowly Misses Björnsson’s Blistering Time in Inver Challenge at Rogue Invitational 2023
The 2023 Rogue Strongman Invitational in Aberdeen, Scotland, witnessed another thrilling display of power and determination as the world’s strongest athletes battled it out. Reigning champion Mitchell Hooper was in the thick of the action, sitting atop the leaderboard after the first two events thanks to a pair of runner-up finishes.
As the competitors took the stage for the Inver Challenge, the third event of the competition, the heat was on. Each strongman was tasked with lifting a series of five stones, ranging from 275 to 420 pounds, in the fastest time possible.
“Tom Stoltman’s initial time of just over 36 seconds set the bar, but it wasn’t enough to hold off Hafthor Björnsson’s blistering run of 27.34 seconds, which earned him his second event win of the day.”
Hooper, the last to take the floor, knew he had to put in a flawless performance to dethrone Björnsson. While he couldn’t quite match the Icelandic giant’s pace, Hooper’s time of 31.8 seconds was enough to edge out Tom Stoltman for the runner-up spot.
