Rogue Invitational 2023: Strongmen and Strongwomen Clash in Grip and Press Event
On April 16th, 2023, the Rogue Invitational in Aberdeen, Scotland, witnessed an exciting clash between the world’s top strongmen and strongwomen. The second event of the debut strongwoman contest was the Grip and Press, where competitors faced a farmer’s carry and log lift medley.
Lucy Underdown, fresh off her Deadlift Ladder win earlier in the day, aimed to maintain her momentum. Meanwhile, Hafthor Björnsson hoped his dominance in static strength from the first event would translate to this challenge.
In a unique setup, the strongmen and strongwomen ran the event simultaneously, with one strongman and one strongwoman competing head-to-head in each heat on the P&P Live competition floor.
“Inez Carrasquillo and Thomas Evans emerged victorious, with Carrasquillo becoming one of only three strongwomen to complete all three log presses. Evans edged out Mitchell Hooper by a mere two-hundredths of a second.”
The competition was intense, with standout performances from the likes of Tom Stoltman, Evan Singleton, and Angelica Jardine, the first strongwoman to successfully lock out the log. Björnsson and Underdown faced off in the closing heat, with Björnsson’s methodical approach keeping him near the top of the leaderboard.
The Rogue Invitational 2023 Strongman and Strongwoman competitions continue with the Inver Stones, Power Drive, Yoke Escalator, and Circus Medley events in the coming days.
