World’s Strongest Man 2023: Stoltman Claims Third Title in Thrilling Final
Myrtle Beach, September 21, 2023 – In a captivating display of strength and determination, Tom Stoltman, the “Albatross” of Strongman, has cemented his legendary status by securing his third World’s Strongest Man title. The giant Scot held off a fierce challenge from his great rival, defending champion Mitchell Hooper, winning the coveted trophy by a comfortable margin of 5.5 points.
Joining the Elite Company
Joining the elite company of Bill Kazmaier with three world titles, the 6-foot, 8-inch Invergordon Goliath continues to dominate the sport, having placed in the top two positions at the World’s Strongest Man competition since 2020. Stoltman’s flawless performance saw him claim event wins in the Max Axle Press and Keg Toss, before clinching his favorite event, the Atlas Stones, to seal the victory.
Hooper’s Valiant Defense
Hooper, the reigning champion, put up a valiant defense of his title but fell short, losing ground early on in the Knaack Giant’s Medley event due to torn calluses on his hands. Despite equaling Stoltman’s performances in several events, the Canadian could not overcome the deficit, ultimately finishing as the runner-up for the sixteenth consecutive time since the 2022 final.
Podium Finishers
American strongman Evan Singleton secured the bronze medal, fending off a late charge from New Zealand’s Mathew Ragg, who made his grand final debut along with Canada’s Tristain Hoath. Both Ragg and Hoath impressed with event wins, with the T-Rex triumphing in the Giant’s Medley and Ragg taking the Deadlift.
The Promising Future
“With both Stoltman and Hooper under the age of 30, the potential for their thrilling rivalry to continue for years to come is evident. The Scot’s three-title haul already places him among the sport’s greatest, and there is every possibility that he could go on to claim a fourth or even fifth World’s Strongest Man crown.”
The captivating battle between these two titans of Strongman has set the stage for a new era of dominance, one that promises to captivate strongman enthusiasts around the world for years to come.
