The 2024 U90KG England’s Strongest Man competition, held on March 31st in Preston, UK, gathered an impressive lineup of 25 strongman athletes weighing under 90 kilograms. In the end, it was Dan Benson who emerged victorious, cementing his status as one of the premier U90KG strongmen.

Consistency proved to be the key to success, as Benson won two events, placed second twice, and finished fourth in another. His well-rounded performance allowed him to accumulate a total of 118.5 points, comfortably securing the top spot.

Ollie Clarke finished as the runner-up with 113 points, followed by Josh Lancaster in third with 105.5 points. The competition featured a thrilling battle across five challenging events, including the Log Lift, Deadlift, Farmer’s Walk, Bag Toss, and Sandbag Load.

Benson’s Dominance Shines Through

In the Log Lift event, Ollie Clarke stood out as the only athlete to successfully complete four reps with the heaviest 130-kg log. Benson, however, was not far behind, managing two reps with the same weight.

The Deadlift event belonged to Benson, who is the U90KG Deadlift World Record holder. He showcased his remarkable strength by completing an astounding 14 reps with the 290-kg barbell, leaving the rest of the field in awe.

Benson’s dominance continued in the Farmer’s Walk, where he covered an impressive distance of 84 meters while carrying the 120-kg implements. Josh Lancaster finished second, just 2.6 meters behind.

Ollie Clarke shone in the Bag Toss event, completing all five sandbags in a lightning-fast time of 16.92 seconds. Benson placed second, demonstrating his well-rounded abilities.

In the final Sandbag Load event, Jake Pacer Allen emerged victorious, becoming the only competitor to complete seven reps with the 140-kg sandbag. Benson, true to form, placed second with five reps.
